Transportation (Space & Land)
Teelighe
The generic name used in Syte for all types of transports. Often shortened to 'tee'.  Teelighes have flexible exterior shells build around a solid inner framework, enabling a stable environment inside while adjusting exterior shapes to suit flight conditions. All teelighes have multiple layers of outer shields, which change appearance depending on their functions and conditions. All tees obtain energy (stored in lysium and other substances) via either the sun or certain types of flight in space phenomena.
Demmiken
Syte's smallest transport, flying fairly close to earth surfaces and designed to move up to 4-6 beings around a planet (or moon). Often shortened to 'dem'.
Dioubangg
Syte's second largest and most common space transport, along with the mijinde. The dioubangg, also called 'bangg. carry groups up to a hundred.  Like the kathib, they are reasonably fast but unable to manage all of the space manipulations of mijinde and sahniks for ultra-fast travel.
Kathib
Syte's largest space transport, designed to carry large sentic groups (hundreds and occasionally thousands) through just one universal layer. Kathibs can move fairly quickly, often traveling with space curves and pastlight speed, but have far less ability to manipulate space for much faster travel.
Kathka
Syte's smallest transport for outer space, designed to move up to 6-8 beings through short distances, such as from a larger teelighe to a planet surface.  Kathkas were often kept in a compressed form on larger tees to use for travel to and across planet surfaces.
Mijinde
Sized between a sahnik and dioubangg, the mijinde is designed to move up to 10-50 santics through space.  Compared to kathibs and dioubangg the mijinde are sleeker, faster, and able to withstand many moderate to challenging space conditions, second only to sahniks.
Sahnik
Syte's second smallest outer space transport, designed to comfortably hold up to 4-10 beings. Sahniks are designed to endure the harshest, most extreme space conditions, using very hard yet flexible materials and Syte's most advanced, reactive structures and systems. Smaller, specialized models such as waveform sahniks and ultra-waveform sahniks customized for specific, highly challenging space environments.
Tuuk
A large tee designed for basic flight, with a functionality focused primarily on generating powerful forces to manipulate physically 'solid' space, such as breaking apart a moon or holding together a de-stabilizing a planet.
Primary Characters
Augn-Kaiyran Taye
"Kai" is from the 'village' of Akwabi-Mayorga on the planet Kentana. He does not know his origins, but biologically is primarily a hybrid of the Kaurran and Vestalius species. Kai is intelligent, kind, curious, and enjoys talking with santics from 'all walks of life'. Kai trains with Miraslov and Dalia on Teeg Seven.
Dalia  Dilek
Dalia Dawn Dilek, human from Earth. Typically called "Dalia" occasionally "Dal".  Dalia is the cousin of Dashii Dilek. Dalia is analytical, compassionate and artistic, and has a strong scientific education.  She is adventurous and can be outgoing, but generally prefers to be alone or with one or two friends. Dalia trains with Kai and Miraslov on Teeg 7.

Typically called "Dashii", occasionally shortened to "Dash".   Dashii is the cousin of Dalia Dilek.  Dashii likes to be surrounded by friends, makes friends easily, and is known for being fun, cheerful and charming. Dashii enjoys the 'city life' and shares this often with Vadim on Saaaht and other planets.
Dexlan Ket
Dexlan, commonly Dex, has a long friendship with Taush'n and a professional relationship and friendship with  Vordrov and Sway. He lives off-Syte but often works for Syte as a highly skilled pilot in challenging space conditions.  Dex is easy-going and daring, especially in space flight, including 'strue racing'; he's very attached to his customized ultra-waveform sahnik.
Fondren
A jora child from Malagon, moved to Leithenn after a tragic event, accompanied by Taush'n, Vasp, Tjoml, Thane, Dex, Skarmic and two other jora children, Fonna and Genlet. Like most jora children Fondren is very trusting, naive, thoughtful and caring to others.  She is small, with fluffy white fur and large, 'baby owl'-like eyes.
Miraslov Ojia
Miraslov Broam Ojia, commonly called "Mira" or "Mirov" interchangeably. An azhen with 6th and 7th senses finaly attuned to the natural world and beings within it. Mirov is the neequai to Dalia and Kai on Teeg-7.  Mira is an asexual being with long black hair and a purple skin pattern like sea grass.
Sook Avila
Sook aMantay Avila is a quoizent with elegant, very dark skin and golden nictitating membranes on her jewel-green eyes. Sook is a friend and colleague of several decades to Vasp and Vorgan.   (NOTE Sook's name will be adjusted later to avoid associations with the slang term.)
Sway
A rothiekan living on his species' home planet, Anotrra.  Friend to Vordrov and Dex, brother to Traith (Tray-th) and Sabin (Say-bin).  Sway is a sahnik engineer who ignores most santics but deeply honors his few close friends. Effortlessly graceful and physically competent, Sway is lured to the challenge of combative physical contests.
Taush'n Zxarade
A lutezian-epfok, genetically designed by her family/community to act in their defense.  As a young woman Taush'n broke away to defend oppressed santics instead, ultimately leading to years of imprisonment.  Taush'n distrusts most santics and both likes and dislikes aspects of Syte. She has a long friendship with Dex and is later a friend to Vasp and Dalia.
Vadim Orthfway
Vadim, from Caplecsia, meets Dalia and Dashii in their orientation on Nykklon. His skin and eye color change with his physical condition, with his skin ranging from pale to dark brown, sometimes with a red or orange tint, and his eyes typically gold to blue but sometimes tinted green.  Vadim greatly enjoys Syte's cities and shares this with Dashii.
Vaspin Raiyje
Vaspin Kaopserlij Raiyje, commonly Vasp, is calm, steady and empathetic even in difficult situations, and highly competent in personal & team defense. As a vantril, Vasp is fairly large with thick plumed fur, unusually dark in grays and black, and as an artist he is stylish and often cuts patterns in his fur.  Vasp has a long professional friendship with Vorgan and Sook, and later Taush'n.
Vordrov
Vordrov is a rothiekan primarily based on his species home planet of Anotrra, though at times he also enjoys spending time in isolation on his moon, Thiom.  Vordrov is very even-keeled, and tends to view life philosophically. Like Sway, Vordrov is a sahnik engineer. Like many rothiekans, Vordrov is deeply loyal to a small number of friends including Sway, who he has known since childhood.
Vorgan Iyszje
Vorgan is a vantril, a fairly large bipedal species with thick, plumed fur, reptilian eyes, a beaked nose and human-ish mouth. Vorgan's fur blends tan, mid-blue and green, with brown chevrons on his arms and stripes on his face.  Vorgan is a member of Syte's Sejah-Bae with a long professional friendship to Sook and Vasp, and sometimes commissions work from Vordrov and Sway,
Common Sytian Terms
Bothkolda
Any type of table or grav-table used for meals. (Generically, tables are called 'kolda'.)
Bothta
A general term for any type of meal. Across so many planets and cultures, Syte has many terms for different types of meals and times for dining. Some common terms link meals to three broad times of the day that can be associated with Earth meals (morning/tembothta, afternoon/kinboth, and evening/gembothta).
Ei-Bota
A general term for a 'snack' or very small meal, eaten outside of a given santic's typical, larger meal times.
Fyohrr
Similar to a human Earth 'last name' or 'family name', except that it is a blend of part of all parents' Fyohrr names.  For example, if someone had two parents with Fyohrr names Bant and Cuprive, their resulting Fyohrr may be Cupant or Cubant.
Gembotaun
A general term for any room or space where meals are eaten. Although a gembotaun can be created anywhere, for convenience a gembotaun is often formed near a tyida.
Gembothta
A term that generally corresponds to  'dinner' on human Earth, i.e. a meal later in the day, broadly around the general time of the most dominant (or only) sunset.
Jastraa
A unit of Sytian time.  (Referenced as 2.31 Earth days, but this conversion needs to be checked across the book to ensure it's consistent.  This will be done and other time units like phiegans added later.)
Kinboth
A term that loosely translates to 'lunch' on human Earth
Kyva
The broad term for all organized defensive forces across Syte. Initial trainees are called onei (oh-nay) and etrai (ee-tray) with the onei being citizens from Syte and the etrai entering from off-Syte, with the intent to become citizens. In early training both groups are merged and called 'vantrei' (vahn-tray)  and when they graduate to initial work with the Kyva they are called 'vhoquai' (voe-kway).
Laite
The 'first name' that santics choose for themselves at a certain age, replacing the Orrent name given by the parents when the santic is born (which is often then used as a 'middle name.
Orrent
The name given to a santic by its parents as a 'first name', until it's replaced by a laite name chosen by the santic.  The orrent is often kept as a 'middle name' in honor of the parents or family.
Santic
A term that describes all common sentient life forms on Syte. Subsets include 'Sentics' (sentient organic life), 'Syntics' (sentient synthetic/organic life), and 'Syntins' (sentient, synthietic inorganic life)
Sririen Lovft
A mostly colorless rock with white streaks and clouds, existing in fields on a small number of planets and moons.  If a small piece of Lovft is held around a sentic's skin in a Lovft field, the sentic will have a powerful sense of euphoria as the gem and field form a unique bio-neural flow, starting with a sense of bliss and then physical sensations, often including a sense of flight. An unknown phenomenon destroying sentics is later called 'the Lovft' as well, as a few rare survivors describe an initial sensation of bliss similar to (though far more intense than) the sririen lovft experience.
Taer-Cahn
A generic term for a public Sytian 'entertainment center'. In their simplest forms this could be like an Earthen 'nightclub', 'concert hall', or other event venue, but the taer-cahn is typically far more complex, offering many types of activities and displays for many types of life foms.
Tembiya
A living space or central gathering space, similar to a 'living room' in a home, or a large open space in a recreational center.
Tembothta
A term that broadly corresponds to 'breakfast' on human Earth, as the first meal of someone's day.
Tyida
A Sytian 'kitchen' where meals are created.
Common Kyva Terms
Kyva
The broad term for all organized defensive forces across Syte. Initial trainees are called onei (oh-nay) and etrai (ee-tray) with the onei being citizens from Syte and the etrai entering from off-Syte (with the intent to become citizens). In early training both groups can merge and are called vantrei (vahn-tray)  and when they graduate to initial work with the kyva they are called vhoquai (voe-kway).   More advanced levels include zhoqual and then santei, with further specialization obtained by quotei (kwoe-tay), votai (voe-tie).  Neequai (Nee-kwie) are also specialized to train vantrei.
Kytia
Permanent locations for potential Kyva candidates (onei and etrai).to gather and live to orient to Syte (for etrai) and to the Kyva (for all)
Strik
The broad term for most of Syte's weaponry.  Syte's striks are typically, mentally set to a given target and will adapt and follow that target based on its molecular composition.  Striks employ a number of methods to incapacitate targets, typically with as little harm as possible.   (Examples will be added later.)
Sybaith
A sybaith is a permanent location established for any group of Kyva (called a 'TyYos', or 'Ty') to live and/or conduct Kyva business.  For onei and etrai, the first sybaith they will encounter is when they 'graduate' into vantrei training, to become true Kyva.  This specialized sybaith is called a 'training ground', or 'teeg'.
Teeg
Permanent locations established to train vantrei to become vhoquai (the first 'level' to work as a true Kyva). In Earth English the term 'teeg' is derived from T-G, or Training Ground. In the same way that santics refer to being on-Syte or off-Syte, they may also say  they're on- or off-Teeg
Tybaith
Any temporary location used by a group of Kyva to gather or live, arranged for a specific, transient purpose.
Key Species & Locations (Planets, Moons, Systems)
Amyndai Shymyrr
A mystical species that is very interwoven with the natural world and able to adjust many aspects of it. The amyndai are deeply connected to one another across their community, and this also influences their connections with earth and space.
Leithenn
A solar system that is the original home to the Mekvaa, a species that uses strong electromagnetic fields to fly.  Leithenn has several planets and one moon suitable for life, with some formerly producing very strong electromagnetic and gymadic fields. The largest populated planet is often simply called Leithenn, like the system. Other planets include Cafin-, Hyten-, Basha-, Faihren- and-Lok-Leithen, and the populated moon, Puarin.
Nykklon
One of 3 moons of Malagon.  (The others are Glon and Esro.)  Nykklon is mostly unpopulated, other than the kytia where etrai are collected to orient to Syte. Dalia, Dashii and Vadim were all on Nykklon for their etrai orientation.
Saaaht
Dashii's initial, chosen Ssybaith before moving on to work with Q-Sec and then Vyntessa. Saaaht is gowned with sleek and cultured cities, and amenities 'you would never even dream of'.
Satouri
ADD
Takau
A solar system off-Syte previously known for several beautiful, populated planets, the surfaces on all of which were decimated  when they moved closer to the sun for unknown reasons and then stabilized in new orbits, in what was later called 'the Takau shift'. This shift occurred on three planets (Jain, Kelnee, Blayn) and Jain's two moons, Taunik and Thane.
Thiom
A small moon procured by Vordrov as a pure and isolated place for contemplation and personal renewal.  It's a simple moon with an atmosphere naturally maintained by a Forten ring.   Sway borrows the moon occasionally for secluded romantic interludes.
Vyntessa
A large Kyva base focused on technological and defensive advancements.

Key Secondary Characters
Janassen
Janassen Ghiradenn Joendesp Fon is an amyndai shmyrr from Seth. Among the amyndai, Janassen has an especially strong influence over some aspects of the natural world, and is the only known santic able to draw satouri to herself and briefly influence their behavior--a trait that becomes invaluable when Syte is trying to find ways to understand the Lovft.
Skarmik Ryken
Skar is a skilled sahnik pilot and part of the team transporting several jora including Fondren to Leithenn. Skar is a high-spirited adventurer with dark plum skin and rakishly blue eyes.  He enjoys trading stories with Dex, and nobly entered the 'red void' when the team saw no other option.
Thane Rej
One of three Kyva asked to care for and watch the jora children prior to, during, and briefly after their transportation to Leithenn. Thane has a soft maternal instinct and strikes up an easy friendship with Tjoml.
